MAJOR ARTISTS IN ART EXHIBIT FOR GOOD GOVERNANCE
Galerie Francesca and Global Filipino Nation will be hosting an art exhibit titled “Global Filipino Art - A Tribute to Excellence in the Filipino”. The art exhibit with the theme: Excellence in Art and Governance will be featuring 40 works by leading contemporary artists and will open Thursday May 8, 2008, 6:00 PM at the Main Building of the University of Makati, JP Rizal Extension, West Rembo, Makati City. It will run until May 11, 2008.
The exhibit will be part of the conference for overseas Filipinos, their families, friends and associates .The theme of the conference is “Building the Global Filipino Nation for Effective Governance.” The event is expected to be the largest assembly of Overseas Filipinos ever organized. Some 5,000 participants are expected to attend the conference with 10,000 clusters of participating Filipinos located all over the world linked by video through the internet and the local news channel.
Among the participating artist are Carlo Magno, Mario Parial, Lydia Velasco, Dominic Rubio, Leonardo Reyes, Vincent de Pio, Aileen Lanuza, Nell Campos, Karina Baluyut, Andrew Barba, Edwin Tres Reyes, Aljo Pingol, Amador Barquilla, Jovan Benito, Joselito Dayono, Glenn Cagandahan, Odette Cagandahan, Mike Herrera, Aldrino Abes and Tessie Picaña.
The artists together with Galerie Francesca will be presenting one to two major works each. There will also be a sketching session of Still Life by the artists on May 8 and May 9 to allow the participants to view how artists create artworks on-the-spot. There will be a raffle of three paintings from leading artists Dominic Rubio, Jovan Benito and Amador Barquilla. |
