There is a tradition in Philippine art fondly referred to as tipos del pais. Roughly translated as 'country types', the term reflects upon paintings that depict rural scenes. Idyllic compositions and colorful scenarios are characteristic of this tradition, which reached its peak with the paintings of National Artist Fernando Amorsolo. Now we have renowned painter Jovan Benito at the forefront of the continuation of this institution with her new show at Galerie Francesca Megamall entitled "The Good Earth", which opens on September 27, 2011 with a special preview on September 23.
